Sep 20, 2018The Summit - Hunter Yurachek (UofA Athletic Director)University of Arkansas Athletic Director
Entering his first full year as vice chancellor and director of athletics at the University of Arkansas, Hunter Yurachek has made the most of his time since Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz announced him as vice chancellor and director of athletics on Dec. 4, 2017.

Shortly after his arrival in Fayetteville, Yurachek introduced a program wide strategic plan that focused on fostering student-athlete success and centered on achieving the program’s mission of building Razorbacks/Champions for Life. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Razorback student-athletes, coaches, administrators, Razorback Foundation members and fans, results are already being realized on and off the field.

In the 2018 spring semester, Razorback student-athletes earned a record-tying 3.25 GPA and 282 student-athletes secured a spot on the department honor roll. In addition, nearly 125 Razorback student-athletes added their name to Senior Walk as graduates of the University of Arkansas.

Arkansas tied a program record with a No. 16 finish in the 2017-18 Learfield Sports Directors Cup, a program that ranks the nation’s most successful intercollegiate athletics programs. Arkansas finished first in the nation in the rankings among schools with 19 or fewer sports.

In 2017-18, Arkansas captured four SEC championships (men’s and women’s cross country, women’s indoor track, women’s golf), including the school’s first SEC crown in women’s golf. The Razorbacks earned three top-five national finishes including national championship runner-up finishes at the 2018 NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships and the 2018 College World Series. Four Arkansas student-athletes earned individual national championships in 2017-18.

Oct 4, 2018The Summit - Asa Hutchinson (Governor)Asa Hutchinson was sworn in as the 46th Governor of Arkansas in January 2015, and immediately set in motion his plan to bring more jobs and economic growth to his native state.

Governor Hutchinson kept a major campaign promise by working to pass the biggest income tax rate cut in state history. His initiative to require computer-coding classes in every public high school makes Arkansas a national leader and signals to businesses everywhere that our students will be prepared for the 21st century economy. In addition, the Governor's emphasis on government efficiencies - including a hiring freeze instituted on his first day - have resulted in taxpayer savings and better focused state services.

As part of his strategy to market Arkansas and attract more jobs and businesses to the state, Governor Hutchinson already has met with CEOs of major industries across the globe from Silicon Valley to France, Japan, Israel, Germany, China and Cuba.

On the national stage, Governor Hutchinson has been a key leader on energy, security and education.

The Governor is the former chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC), Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) and the Southern Regional Education Board.

Before being elected governor, Asa Hutchinson served as Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration and as the first Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Voters in Arkansas's Third District also elected him to Congress three times.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas law school, Asa Hutchinson, at age 31, was appointed by President Reagan as the nation's youngest U.S. attorney.

He and his wife Susan have been married 44 years. They have four children and six grandchildren.

He has been in the commercial real estate business for thirty-four years, sixteen in Dallas and eighteen years in Northwest Arkansas. Tommy and two close friends and associates co-founded Sage Partners thirteen years ago. It is now one of the leading commercial real estate firms in the state and region.

Nov 1, 2018The Summit - Chad Morris (UofA Head Football Coach)University of Arkansas Head Football Coach

Chad Morris was named the 33rd head football coach in University of Arkansas history on December 6, 2017.

After 16 years as a head coach at the high school level in Texas, Morris entered the college ranks in 2010 as Tulsa's offensive coordinator and associate head coach. He guided the offense to among the nation's best, a big reason Tulsa improved from 5-7 in 2009 to 10-3 in 2010. Following the 2010 season he headed to Clemson as Dabo Swinney's offensive coordinator from 2011-14. Morris went on to get his first head coaching job at SMU, where he spent the last three seasons.

Under Morris' fast-paced, no-huddle spread attack, Clemson shattered 127 offensive records (89 individual; 38 team) from 2010-14. Morris was the primary recruiter for and aided in the development of former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, led the Tigers to a national title in 2017, and went on to become a first-round NFL draft pick by the Houston Texans.

During his three seasons at SMU (2015-17), Morris used his Texas recruiting roots and offensive prowess to take the Mustangs from a 1-11 campaign in 2013 before he took over to the program's first bowl bid since 2012 with a 7-5 mark this season. Morris' offensive scheme was exactly what SMU needed, as it increased its scoring output by 16.7 points per game - the second-largest increase in the nation in 2015. Even more impressive, Morris inherited an offense that ranked last (128th) in the FBS in scoring in 2014 (11.8) and turned it into the nation's eighth-highest scoring offensive (40.1) in 2017. In the 2017 regular season, SMU ranked among the top 15 in the FBS in scoring offense (40.2 points), total offense (493.8 yards) and passing yards (308 yards).

Morris became a legend in Texas during his 16 years as a head coach in the state. He won 82 percent of his games and led Lake Travis High School to back-to-back, undefeated (16-0) state championship seasons. He won three state titles overall and played in six state championship games. He totaled a 169-38 record (.816) and earned Coach of the Year honors 11 times.

Born on December 4, 1968 in Edgewood, Texas, Morris attended Texas A&M University and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a minor in statistics in 1992, but did not play college football. He and his wife, Paula, have two children, a daughter, Mackenzie, and son, Chandler.
